We are a new group which is geographically coterminous with the Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk. The LAG membership is business focused and geographically well spread. Parts of the area were in two successful LEADER areas in the last programme so we aim to draw on this valuable expertise and experience. One of our LAG members had a successful project funded in the last programme and we are also keen to promote cross border projects and cooperation with our neighbouring LAGs.
The LAG recognises the need to balance economic development with sustainability and the protection of our landscape. However, there is significant potential to grow our rural economy, for example through the application of new agricultural technology, innovation and new ways of working, by adding value to agricultural and horticultural produce, building on the area’s high quality, diverse landscape to increase tourism and visitor spend, growing existing small and micro businesses and by encouraging new businesses in our rural communities. By working together with the wider community, our two LEPs and local businesses the LAG aims to deliver real, measurable benefits for West Norfolk.
